About Dust and Boots
Dust and Boots is based in the beautiful kingdom of Swaziland in Southern Africa. Our office is situated in the heart of the Ezulwini valley, also known as the Valley of Heaven.
We are a hiking tour company that focus on unforgettable, exclusive, and all-inclusive hiking tours for hiking enthusiasts from all over the world. We take great pride in creating tours that are something out of the ordinary and tours that will leave a memorable positive mark — both on you as a guest and on our local partners.
We organise tours primarily in Swaziland, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. We are continuously developing new routes and itineraries, so stay tuned to our website for the latest news and developments.
For years we have been hiking in the impossibly beautiful mountains and little known nature reserves in Swaziland — This is where our love and passion for hiking in Africa really began many years ago. Since then, the Kruger wilderness trail has become a favourite of ours. Lately the desert country of Namibia have been pulling our heart strings. Naturally we are keen to share all of our hiking highlights with you, why our tour program reflects one great tour after another.
Out motto is: Leaving Positive Footprints. This is central in all of our dealings. We try to leave a positive mark on everything our tours are connected with; Guest experiences are number one, interaction with local communities, supporting local economy, knowledge sharing, donations of beneficial and sustainable equipments or similar.
One of the main ways we support local economy is buying locally; We buy all of our equipment either in Swaziland or in South Africa, preferably local brands. We do all of our tour shopping locally. In addition, we have a wide range of local partners that contribute to our tours either with guiding, catering, or transport. All these transactions support the local economy and thereby help local people earn a living. Supporting local initiatives, culture and people is central in our work in Southern Africa. We hope you will join us in this endeavour.
Dust and Boots is privately owned by the founder and current director, a Danish national, biologist, and experienced guide, Marie Dahl. She has worked in the tourism industry for many years, but is trained as a qualified biologist (B.Sc. from Aarhus University, M.Sc. from University of Copenhagen). She has almost 40 different countries stamped in her passport and has hand reared a baby polar bear, but her heart has always belonged to the great wilds of Africa.
Marie Dahl has been travelling, working, and living in Southern Africa since the year 2001. She is the lead guide on all Dust and Boots’ tours and multi-day tours, and takes great care that all tours are executed by highest standards only.
Marie’s many years of work experience and personal qualifications ensure Dust and Boots’ guests a guiding and tour experience out of the ordinary.
Our mission is to provide our valued guests with quality tours; rich in experiences, interactions and adventures. We strive to become known for our motto Leaving Positive Footprints, which is the heart of the sustainable tourism we stand for.
We will do our utmost to contribute with positive interactions, development, and knowledge sharing in the communities we visit.
We hope our guests will be inspired to interact and engage with local communities at a grassroots level, and thereby help us support a future that radiates with hope and prosperity for all.
We see a future where local communities will gain positively from visitors — especially in Swaziland.
We strive to become the #1 hiking tour company of Southern Africa; a dream we will work towards on a daily basis.
We take great pride in meeting and exceeding our guest expectations on every tour. We communicate nature, biology, culture, history, and all things relating to your destination. We hope you will learn something new and that you will pay it forward.
We appreciate postive interactions with all our guests, partners, and local communities — Always keeping our motto in mind: Leaving Postive Footprints.
